Opportunity

The Core Banking team needed to address problems with the No Fee Overdraft (NFO) product. By March 2020, cost of customer operation grew $20,000/mo.

UX Research recommended that a cash advance product would be the ideal solution for both the customer and business needs.

Outcome

The org formed a product team comprised of partners from UX/Research, product, engineering, and operations.

With only 4 months for product development, the team determined key flows, conducted research sessions, designed for multiple platforms, and delivered on time.

Impact

Since its launch in Dec 2020, 51% adoption and +140,000 advances taken.

The Varo Advance team's process was incorporated into the organization's overall product strategy.
